Google Play Hits Google Navigation Bar
Mar 27th, 2012
So you have noticed something strange on your Google home page today? A new entry in the Google black Navigation Bar – Play. You might be wondering what exactly it is. What Google has come up with now? Well, Google Play is a new incarnation of Android Marketplace. Those who are having android based smart phones; they might have noticed it earlier that Android Marketplace is being replaced by Google Play in their mobiles. Google homepage and Navigation Bar is without doubt the best place to promote anything on internet and Google has very smartly used the same to promote Google Play. It is placed between Google Maps and YouTube, two of the most prominent Google Products.
Before we discuss more about what exactly Google Play has to offer, let’s have a look at the introductory video.
So now, what exactly can we expect from Google Play??
If you have used Android Marketplace, then you will be aware that Android Marketplace was a kind of Android Application store where Android Users could search thousands of apps and install it on their android devices. Now Google Play has much more to offer then just Android Apps. Music, Movies, Videos, Books, Applications, Games and many more stuff. Google is probably trying to compete with Apple’s App Store which unarguably holds the top spot in Mobile Application market. iTunes has given new heights to online music business and generating handsome revenues for Apple. Android Marketplace was a hit among Android users but still it could not produce a threat to Apple App Store, so Google had to come up with something more promising and they came up with Google Play.
With Google Play, you don’t need to own an Android Device. Google Play can be used on Desktops, Laptops, Portable Devices, Android Phones and any other device which could be connected to internet. Best thing about Google Play is everything is stored on cloud so you could use your Apps, Play your games, Read your books, Listen to your music and Watch your favourite movies on the go anytime anywhere. If you think you are going out of reach of network, then all these things are available for offline use also.
Social sharing is something which everyone is crazy about these days. Google is taking complete advantage of this and Google+ is integrated with Google Play. Now you can share your Apps, Music, Movies, Books everything on Google+ with you. One interesting feature is if you buy any song, you can share a free listen with your friends and you get a free listen back when they share something which they bought with you. Movie bluffs are seriously going to love Google Play as the movie you rent online won’t reside only in your android device alone. It will be shared on your Google Play account and you can continue watching your movie from any device by logging in to your Google Play account.
So Google is all set to hit Apple App Store hard. Nokia and Microsoft have been planning to enter this market but competition will be really stiff for them when they actually arrive. After proving its superiority in Search, Email, Browser and other areas, Google is now targeting the next big thing – combination of Cloud Services and Mobile Applications. It will be really interesting to see how Apple responds to this after their recent dream run in share market.
